Born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1982, Philippe RASKIN started learning the piano at the age of 7 with Aleksander Friedland, a Russian conductor, then with Bernadette Malter, and afterwards with Loredana Clini. 

At the age of 16, while attaining school, Philippe started studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels in the class of Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, with Burchard Spinnler as deputy teacher. The same year he obtained his first degree with honours. 

Philippe attained several international training courses and master classes, with among others: Sergueï Koutznetsov, Pascal Sigrist, Boyan Vodenitcharov, Eugène Moguilevsky, Brigitte Engerer, Abdel Rahman El Bacha and David Lively. 

He performed successfully in several competitions: In 1996, he won the “J.S. Bach” in Brussels. In 1998, he got an award at the “Cantabile” in Antwerp and won the “A.M. Grétry” in Liège. In 2001, he received the first prize of the “International Paris Competition” from the unanimous jury and in 2002, he was awarded the first prize of interpretation at the “Lions” in Brussels. 

In 2002, he successfully passed the entrance examination for the Queen Elisabeth College in Brussels with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden as instructor. He graduated in 2004 with highest honours. The same year, he got his Master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Brussels and received the support of the Nany Philippart Foundation.  

In 2005, Philippe succeeded at the entrance examination for the “Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia” in Madrid where he studied under the leadership of Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez. In October 2005, he won the first prize of the “André Dumortier” international competition and in June 2006 he received from H.M. the Queen the Reina Sofia Sobresaliente Price at the Pardo Palace in Madrid. 

Philippe regularly performs in Belgium and abroad. He participated with several orchestras, among others the Flemish Radio Orchestra with P. Bartholomée as conductor, de Filharmonie of Antwerp with Olari Elts. At the invitation of the Chopin Warsaw Academy he gave a concert in the house where the composer was born. He recently participated in several representations of the Messiah of Haendel with Rainer Schmidt and the Madrid Camerata.
